Whether you live in an area with a number of tourists or you’re just looking to attract more new customers this season, updating and managing your local listings is an easy way to make sure your business is visible online.
Here are three ways to entice tourists (and locals) to your business this summer with listings.
1. Attract Searchers through Google Maps with Google My Business
Is your business showing on Google Maps when people search for products and services related to your business? If you don’t have your Google My Business page set up and claimed, chances are it’s not. Google Maps is one resource tourists use when searching for businesses while on vacation or when they’re passing through an unknown area, so you want to make sure they can find you.
What to Do: Set up and claim your page through Google My Business. If your page is already set up and claimed, ensure all your business information, like your phone number, hours or operation, and address, is up-to-date. It’s also great to include pictures relevant to your business and encourage your happy customers to leave reviews on your page. You want searchers seeing your business on Google Maps to have enough information about you to want to visit your business or give you a call.
2. Get Active on Yelp (If It Makes Sense for Your Business)
Does Yelp make sense for your business? If you see your competitors on Yelp, chances are, you should be active there as well. Yelp is another resource for tourists when looking for businesses in a new area, and you want to make sure you show up for related products and services and that your business looks enticing.
What to Do: Set up and claim your page with accurate business information and photos. And, make sure you’re managing reviews here. Yelp doesn’t encourage asking customers for reviews, but you can remind current customers that you have a Yelp page through in-store signage and links to your Yelp page on your website and in emails.
3. Make Sure Your Other Listings Are Up to Date
One of the worst experiences for an out-of-towner is to find a business on their favorite listing site and for that business’s information to be incorrect. This could mean an outdated address, wrong phone number, or incorrect business hours. Updating your listings is one of the easiest things you can do to ensure people who want to do business with you are able to.
What to Do: Either work with a digital marketing company to help you manage your listings or find listings that are important in your area or your industry to update and manage.
