At ReachLocal, we wanted to understand how consumers are shopping this holiday season. Do they prefer in-store or online? How are they deciding what local businesses to support this season?

To answer these questions and more, we surveyed over 250 consumers about their holiday shopping habits and found some interesting results, including:

  • 44% of consumers prefer to shop both in-store and online.
  • 55% of millennials 18-34 prefer to shop in stores.
  • Most consumers ranked convenience as the number one reason they shop in stores.
  • 79% of consumers who research online plan to purchase at least some of those items in-store.
