The holidays can be a difficult time for small businesses. Not only do you have to compete with big box retailers while planning your own seasonal marketing, but you have to get your own holiday shopping and preparations done while trying to enjoy an ounce of holiday cheer. Luckily, American Express’s shop small initiative Small Business Saturday® puts the focus on small businesses during the holiday season and takes a little bit of the guesswork out when it comes to planning your marketing efforts this season.
Each year since 2010, Small Business Saturday has been held the Saturday after Thanksgiving (and Black Friday) as a way to champion small businesses during the holiday rush. Last year, an estimated $14.3 billion was spent at small, independent businesses on Small Business Saturday.
In this ReachLocal Remarks video, ReachLocal’s CEO Sharon Rowlands talks about how you can get involved with this shop small initiative both as a business owner and as a consumer.
