And second, you’re able to present more accurate, detailed information about your products and services that consumers and search engines will find useful.

Topic Strategy in the Real World

Picture this: I’m a local flower shop owner. Currently my SEO strategy is solely based on keywords. For each keyword, I have a unique page on my website. These keywords include phrases such as local florist, flowers in Dallas, Dallas flower delivery, and more. However, I’m interested in shifting my SEO to a more topic-based strategy. In this case, I would create one landing page such as “Your Dallas Florist,” and on that page it would focus on all relevant keywords. Therefore, the topic strategy allows you to create an umbrella that covers multiple topics, leading to increased relevance for website visitors.

Keywords are still important in SEO, especially when it comes to building a strategy that is relevant to your business and to searchers, so don’t throw in the towel on your existing strategy. By marrying keywords with the topics strategy, you can establish an effective SEO strategy that makes your website easier to navigate and find on search engines.
