Google Stats That Will Blow Your Mind

In our last 5 in 15 Webinar: 5 Questions You Always Wanted Google to Answer, Google Strategic Partner Manager Bo Pulito answered burning questions from our webinar participants. Bo touched on a number of topics local businesses are interested in learning more about like how to increase your chances of showing first in search results and trends Google is keeping tabs on.

He also talked about lead sources and how you can use Google to drive more leads for your business. Here are three stats we learned about Google and its lead sources:

1. Google is the only platform that collectively reaches 2 billion people.

That’s 25% of the total population and 90% of the total internet population in the U.S. Google reaches these users through its search engine, its display ad network, YouTube, Google My Business/Google+, and Android.

2. Google has over 80% market share of all smartphones globally.

Google’s Android operating system even beats Apple. Apple only owns 15% of the market share. Google is also able to advertise on the largest number of mobile apps.

3. YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world.

One billion videos are watched every day, and more than half of those are on YouTube. Users search on YouTube to find tutorials, helpful information, and reviews, among other things.

Google classifies search, display, mobile, and video as its core lead generation products. For a local business, Google says search advertising is the most important thing you can do, but a strategy that integrates all of these lead generation products will be the most effective at reaching the highest number of customers.
